What Can I Expect at My First Visit

Our initial consultation begins with a history of your condition and past medical history. The history plays a crucial part in helping to make a diagnosis of the condition and ultimately deciding how you would best be treated.

The case history is followed by an examination of the relevant area and may include investigation of other neuromusculoskeletal (nerves, muscles, joint) areas. Gowns are available.

After the examination, we will discuss the findings, what can be done for you and what treatment (if any) is recommended.

Treatment

Chiropractic treatment mainly involves safe, often gentle, specific adjustments, done by hand, to free joints of the spine or other areas of the body that are not moving properly. The adjustment is done by a gentle thrust being applied to the affected joint and is commonly, but not always, associated with an audible `click'. The 'click' is merely the sound of gas bubbles popping in the joints fluid.

To compliment our adjustments we also commonly use massage, trigger point therapy, stretching exercises, mobility exercises and very importantly spinal strengthening exercise (please see our link ‘Spinal Exercise and Rehabilitation').
